SIMPLE KNITS WITH A TWIST: Unique Projects for Creative Knitters
by Erika Knight
Price: $19.95
Category: Knitting
ISBN: 1584793619
Cover: Hardcover
Review: Make chic house slippers ballet style
or a funny "barcode" doggie sweater. A knitted twine
bag for a wire planter is comical, but practical and attractive.
I love the denim and knit beanbag chair. Knit wire, making
a sturdy little basket or napkin rings. Ribbon, fabric, and
twine add to the quirky materials. What a witty idea to use
cut up plastic bags or netting for fun and trendy projects
for adventuresome knitters. Sweaters, throws, a pillow and
rugs using interesting materials create interesting works.

pig button noses on the toes!) there must be a sock for
you in this book if you have EVER thought to knit socks.

editors of "Knitter's" magazine, and the creative
energy which resulted is amazing. I would have a hard
time choosing a favorite sock pattern, but luckily I don't
have to. I'll just start at the beginning and work my
way into page upon page of designs from really talented
knitters. Extremely well presented patterns, full color
photography, basics, tips, graphs, diagrams and just plain

of two-circular-needle-sock-knitting, a more efficient and

charts, a section on translating traditional patters to
the two-circular method, and abundant tips and tricks have
been put together with great care and a generous sprinkling
of humor. The author answers all of those subtle, almost
unframeable questions a new sock knitter has, as well as
delighting seasoned sock knitters with innovative sock architecture
and techniques.

VINTAGE KNITS: 30 Exquisite Vintage-Inspired Patterns
for Cardigans, Twin Sets, Crewnecks and More by Sarah
Dallas Price: $18.00
The
1940s and 50s had a sleek sophistication to their fashions:
feminine yet slinky, functional yet eye-catching. All
these patterns are timeless, and easy to update with today's
yarn and color choices. There are two full-color photos
of each finished garment, as well as a small black and
white of the actual vintage article that inspired it.
These are definitely not quick knits. Most are worked
on a size 3 needle, producing a fine textured fabric,
but I think you'll find them worth the effort.

COMFORTS OF HOME: 18 Knitted Accents
by Erika Knight Price: $29.95
I'm so happy to see this sort of knitting book, because
I often suggest that the beginning knitter knit pillows
as a learning project. Not that this is just a beginners'
book, but it would make the perfect first timer gift---throw
in some needles and big yarn and they're off and knitting!
Beautiful basic how-to-knit instructions, some of the best
I've seen, compliment a selection of simple and stylish
home accessories. Wonderful photography, good mix of projects
for bed, bath and more, tailored designs. Oh, and incase
you get insecure, there is a gauge page in the back of the
book, perhaps an afterthought, but not, as the author explains,
entirely necessary with these projects.
